At age 27, Austin attorney Sarah Weddington won the landmark 1973 case Roe v Wade that legalized abortion, making her the youngest person to ever successfully argue a case before the Supreme Court. A national debate ensued, and a divide in America endures over this controversial issue. What most people don’t know is that after the case, Ms. Weddington and Norma McCorvey, "Jane Roe" the plaintiff, took divergent life paths that reflect the complicated polarization in our culture. Poignant, surprising, and with unexpected humor, ROE illuminated the difficult choices women make and the passion each side has for its cause.

ZACH'S ROE Wows With a Timely Message
“From my knowledgeable companion about Sturgis's performance: "She's got her down." Sturgis gets a strong first word in as Weddington tells her story in the first act. She tees us up perfectly for an experience through the arc of time…”
Joni Lorraine, Broadway World Austin

“…[Roe’s] gutsy young attorney Sarah Weddington (a marvelously compelling Nisi Sturgis)”
“All of this comes across as a call to action… Come see Roe for the personal stories behind the politics and the remarkable performances. Stay for the rallying cry.”
Bob Abelman, The Austin Chronicle

“Director Jenny Lavery, her cast, and the accomplished technical excellence of the production delivered the nourishment we've been seeking after the retrograde Dobbs decision and the proliferation of reprehensible efforts to impose authoritarian control at all levels of U.S. society. Thanks for that. You help keep hope alive.”
Michael Meigs, CTX Live THeatre
